Hot on the news that Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is extending her Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them franchise out to at least five movies, Deadline reports that Johnny Depp has signed on to appear in its second film. Never one to miss out on a multi-movie opportunity to say nonsense words while wearing improbable hats and scarves, Depp will co-star alongside Eddie Redmayne in the untitled Beasts sequel, which is scheduled to start filming under David Yates’ aegis next year.
Hippogriff-eyed Potter fans might spot Depps sooner, though; there are rumors that the actor’s still-unnamed new character might make a brief cameo in Beasts—due out November 18—to set up his appearance in the later films.
