Reality show villain parlays minor celebrity into White House gig
Following in the footsteps of her television mentor, Donald Trump, Omarosa Manigault has parlayed an appearance on a semi-trashy reality TV show into a job at the White House. According to sources quoted by CNBC, Manigault—who served as the candidate’s director of African-American outreach during the Trump campaign, and later as a member of his transition team—has been hired for a still-unnamed position in the Trump administration. This will actually be the second time the reality star has worked in the White House; before her turn toward TV infamy, she worked as a scheduling correspondent in the office of then-Vice President Al Gore.
Before signing on with the campaign, Omarosa gave her assessment of her once-and-future boss (and reality TV partner), telling Frontline, “Every critic, every detractor, will have to bow down to President Trump. It is the ultimate revenge to become the most powerful man in the universe.” Omarosa is expected to work in public engagement for the administration, presumably crafting even more supervillain/professional wrestler-esque dialogue for the president-elect to spout.
