There are some who would say that no amount of sensitivity training could ever rehabilitate a man who once declared, “Fucking Jews, Jews are responsible for all the wars,” but Mel Gibson is no mere mortal—he’s an actor and director, a man who can stir the human heart with a subtle crinkle of the eye, bludgeon the senses with an epic battle, or crush the span of ancient history and the murky mysteries of religion into compact size. He contains multitudes, etc. But, ah, apparently one of those multitudes might also be kind of racist and crazy after all, at least if RadarOnline is to be believed.
The gossip site has been diligently tracking the increasingly nasty legal battle between Mel Gibson and ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva as it’s spiraled into allegations of physical abuse—including Grigorieva’s claims that Gibson allegedly punched her “in the face two times, breaking her teeth, and giving her a concussion”—and dual restraining orders. Now the site claims to have heard a clandestinely recorded audiotape that features Gibson unleashing a tirade of violent threats, flecked with a choice racial epithet that the site claims is “one of the most disgusting comments a celebrity has ever been caught making.” More disgusting than “Sugar Tits”? Oh, innocent reader. If their transcript is to be believed, some day you’ll look back on “Sugar Tits” and laugh. But, you know, for different reasons.
"You're an embarrassment to me," Mel tells her at one point.
"You look like a f***ing pig in heat, and if you get raped by a pack of n***ers, it will be your fault."
Mel's profane outbursts are littered with references to Oksana being a "whore" and "c**t".
In another tirade, Mel tells Oksana: "How dare you act like such a bitch when I have been so f**king nice."
He warns, "I am going to come and burn the f**king house down… but you will blow me first."
Not surprisingly, many have already rushed to condemn Gibson, among them professional press conference-giver Gloria Allred, who calls them “the worst kind of racism and sexism. They clearly demonstrate a woman-hating temperament, which, in my opinion, is dangerous to women.” And both the NAACP and the Rev. Jesse Jackson have weighed in, with NAACP L.A. chapter president Leon Jenkins calling Gibson “an out of date and out of control racist,” while Jackson has said his “penchants for anti-Semitic and racist diatribes reveal the actor's fundamental character flaw." (And if anyone knows from anti-Semitic diatribes…)
Anyway, this is all just hearsay at this point, as RadarOnline remains the only source that’s actually heard the tapes. But if they get out, or even if Gibson is forced to own up to their content (at this point, of course, he has no comment), we have a feeling it could negatively affect the promotional campaign for The Beaver.
