Red Hot Chili Peppers break five-year moratorium on Red Hot Chili Peppers albums, prep I'm With You

Red Hot Chili Peppers announced today that they will release their 10th studio record, I’m With You, on Aug. 30. It will be the band’s first album since 2006’s Stadium Arcadium, and the departure of guitarist John Frusciante, who parted ways (again) with the band during its prolonged hiatus. (Frusciante was replaced by Josh Klinghoffer, whose first order of business should be finding a more ChiPep-sounding stage name.) I’m With You is produced, of course, by Rick Rubin, who has overseen the group’s last five albums, including 1991’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik, which we still know all the words to in spite of spending years trying to forget them. Stereogum reports that the first single is called “The Adventures of Raindance Maggie,” and it will be out July 18 and probably be about heroin and the dark side of California.
