Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston are teaming up for a drama about morning news
Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon are about to America’s Sweetheart the fuck out of a new drama series, centered on the world of morning network news. Deadline reports that Aniston—who hasn’t worked regularly in TV since Friends went off the air—and Witherspoon—who recently scored an Emmy nod for Big Little Lies—have both signed deals for the series, currently known as “Untitled Morning Show Project.”
(Meanwhile, here’s the last time Witherspoon and Aniston worked together, as sisters, on the set of Friends.)
Former HBO exec Michael Ellenberg will produce the show, from a script by House Of Cards writer Jay Carson. That’s a pretty hefty pedigree, which should give the series some traction as it tries to attract a network to its presumably cutthroat world of cheerful interviews, heartless betrayals, and a metric ton of big, fake smiles.
