Reggie Watts goes to the near future in the short film Brasilia

Mixing Brazil and the future is magical—watch Terry Gilliam’s Brazil if you think otherwise. But if you don’t have about two-and-a-half hours to spare, The Late Late Show bandleader Reggie Watts’ Brasilia short film will have to do.

Directed by Benjamin Dickinson (who also worked with Watts on Creative Control, which premiered at SXSW), Brasilia is a futuristic look at the capital of Brazil with Watts and Carolina Ravassa. Watch the seven-minute film to learn about pratheons, Christian hymns and a “Climb Portal.” It’s bizarre. Not “losing 7-1 in a World Cup hosted on your own soil” bizarre, but off-putting nonetheless.
