Regina Spektor developing a cross between a regular concert and a Broadway musical

According to the Los Angeles Times, Regina Spektor is set to perform a five-show run at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Broadway this summer, and she’s planning to do something with “theatrical elements.” Spektor says it won’t be a “Broadway Show” and it won’t be a regular concert, but it will be something in between… or a combination of the two? It’s unclear, and it seems like she may not be entirely sure herself just yet. “I’m revisiting all the songs I’ve ever written,” she says, “to see how some of them might group together and connect into a show.” Spektor also teases that she’s “thinking up some fun ways to incorporate special guests,” and she’ll be switching out the setlist “quit a bit” from one day to the next so she can play some very deep cuts from her catalog.

Spektor’s run will go from June 20-26, a month after Morrissey’s run at the same theater (assuming, again, that he doesn’t cancel it first).
