Slow, somber covers of buzzy pop confections often come off as gimmicky and glib but Broken Anchor’s ethereal, fragile cover of the great Harvey Danger ditty “Flagpole Sitta” works shockingly well. The band finds the pathos and uncertainty lurking underneath the smartass irreverence of the original. For extra ’90s nostalgia, the group has just put out an appropriately downbeat music video featuring another relic of the Clinton era: She’s All That star Rachael Leigh Cook.
