Relive The Wonder Years with the complete series on DVD
Fans of The Wonder Years watched Kevin Arnold (Fred Savage) move from his middle-school years to the brink of manhood. “Growing up happens in a heartbeat. One day you’re in diapers, the next day you’re gone. But the memories of childhood stay with you for the long haul,” narrated the adult Kevin (Daniel Stern) as the series wrapped up his boyhood adventures. The Wonder Years went off the air 23 years ago, after six seasons and 115 episodes, but there was a long and winding road to home-video release, thanks to music licensing issues. But as of 2014, the series has been available on DVD, which TimeLife is re-issuing as a new 22-disc set.
The specially-priced set retails for $119.95, and will be on sale as of August 23. There are, of course, all-new bonus features, including a final set tour, and clips from a cast reunion. To fire up the nostalgia engines, TimeLife’s also shared clip from the season five episode, “The Lost Weekend.” In it, Kevin surveys the damage following an impromptu kegger with his friends. Wayne has little sympathy for the “butthead,” of course, and delights in Kevin’s anxiety. By episode’s end, we see a new side of Wayne, though he doesn’t exactly give up picking on his younger brother.
