It’s now officially been 20 years since Tori Amos released Boys For Pele, which could either spark feelings of nostalgia or relief, depending on how far you wish to leave your adolescence behind. Either way, the feelings will be intense, because intense feelings are what Tori Amos fans live for. And Boys For Pele is full of them—passionate, piano-straddling feelings about religion, and self-discovery, and sex, and some more sex. Recorded in an old Irish church (very on-brand for Tori), the album was one of her most successful, debuting at No. 2 on the album charts in both the U.S. and the U.K. back when those things still mattered.
To commemorate the album’s 20th anniversary, Rhino is re-releasing the album in two deluxe versions: First a two-LP set of the original album, available November 18. That same day, Rhino will also be issuing a deluxe 2-CD edition of Boys For Pele with 21 bonus tracks, including B-sides, live and demo recordings, and four never-before-released tracks, “To The Fair Motormaids of Japan,” “Talula (M&M Mix)”, “In The Springtime Of His Voodoo (Rookery Ending),” and “Sucker.”
