Remember which celebrities paid $40,000 to be immortalized in a block of cement last year

Here’s what’s happening in the world of television for Friday, January 4 and Saturday, January 5. All times are Eastern.

Top pick

The Hollywood Walk Of Fame Honors (The CW, Friday, 9 p.m.): Thy eternal summer shall not fade, as long as $40,000 you pay… that is, if you’re an A-list celebrity. You may have to buy the right to a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame, but that doesn’t make this year’s recipients any less notable. Among those immortalized in pavement in 2018 were Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Mark Hamill, “Weird Al” Yankovic, N’Sync, Mary J. Blige, RuPaul, Taraji P. Henson, Ryan Murphy, Jeff Goldblum, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Snoop Dogg—who, rightly, thanked himself in his acceptance speech. Dean Cain hosts the look back at all of the names that were cemented into the who’s-who of Hollywood canon last year.

Regular coverage

Rupaul’s Drag Race All Stars (VH1, Friday, 8 p.m.)
A Series Of Unfortunate Events (Netflix, episode seven)

Wild card

Ron Funches: Giggle Fit (Comedy Central, Friday, 11 p.m.): Kicking off Comedy Central’s “Stand-up Month” with a fit of giggles is writer-actor-comedian Ron Funches, who steps out tonight in an aptly named hour-long special. After getting his start in Portland’s comedy scene, Funches made a name for himself cracking jokes on @midnight, Chelsea Lately, and John Oliver’s New York Stand Up Show. He’s written for The Eric Andre Show and Kroll Show and worked on such shows as Portlandia, New Girl, Drunk History, Black-ish, and Bob’s Burgers. Tonight we’ll hear him speak openly about having a teenage son with autism and his own love for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the “Beyoncé for boys.” If you can’t catch the show, you can download or stream the digital album, which drops on iTunes and Spotify today.
