Report: Curtain about to fall on Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip
According to Fox News entertainment columnist Roger Friedman, NBC is about to cancel Aaron Sorkin's critically-lauded but ratings-deficient drama Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip, a move that likely won't prompt an embittered producer to bumrush the airwaves and rail against the complacency of television networks. Despite a massive promotional effort from the network, Studio 60 has consistently been killed in the ratings; last week, it had 7.7 million viewers vs. 17.5 million for CSI: Miami. Making matters worse for fans of Matthew Perry's witty banter with Bradley Whitford is that Studio 60 is losing half the viewers tuning in for its lead-in, the surprise hit Heroes. Sadly, the writing is on the wall: Those seeking overlong and unfunny parodies of Nancy Grace will have to stick with Saturday Night Live from now on.
