Report: Ticketmaster and Live Nation parting ways
According to Variety, Live Nation—the world's largest concert promoter—isn't going to renew its contract with Ticketmaster when it expires in 2008. What does this mean to you, the concert-goer? Potentially nothing if your friendly neighborhood music venue isn't involved with Live Nation, which owns, operates, books or has equity interest in more than 160 establishments. LN appears to be looking at doing its own ticketing, which could be a horse apiece for consumers. But this certainly ain't good news for Ticketmaster, which made $100 million off LN events last year—good for 15 to 20 percent of its business.
