“A documentary as unique as the series,” What We Left Behind aims to boldly go where no other such endeavor to piece together the history of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine has gone before. The documentary is a labor of love for everyone involved, especially former DS9 writer and showrunner Ira Steven Behr, who oversees What We Left Behind and led the crowdfunding campaign that ended successfully in 2017. Much of the main DS9 cast, including the elusive Avery Brooks, sat down with Behr and other scribes from the show to talk about what makes the series resonate to this day.
