Rian Johnson and Mark Hamill are back to shut down whiny "manbabies"

Yesterday, we reported that some motherfuckers hiding behind the banner of “Star Wars fans” had driven The Last Jedi’s Kelly Marie Tran off of Instagram with a months-long harassment campaign built on the traditional internet values of sexism and racism. (New Star Wars star Daisy Ridley was also driven off of Instagram after posting a comment in support of gun violence victims in 2016.) The official Star Wars Twitter account still hasn’t said anything about this, but Last Jedi director Rian Johnson is at least willing to call out the terrible “fans” who have been treating one of his stars like shit.

Johnson (whose Twitter page includes a cartoon image of Tran’s character Rose) started with an obvious subtweet to the harassers, referring to them as “manbabies” in a post:

He also tried to make it clear that most of the Star Wars fans he has interacted with over the last few years are actually fine people who respond with “humor, love, and respect” even when they don’t like something, a sentiment that Mark Hamill—no stranger to calling out assholes on Twitter—agreed with.

Still, some willfully obtuse trolls tried to question Johnson’s assertion that Tran’s harassers are “manbabies,” prompting him to issue this significantly more direct takedown:
