Cars fans will be happy to hear that a new DVD on the beloved Boston new wave band will be released on October 17th. Produced by Ric Ocasek, it will feature 20 "never before seen performances interspersed with intimate interview footage, backstage anticsm, soundcheck rehearsals and more." (And everyone knows there's no backstage antics quite like Cars backstage antics, right?)
But wait, there's more. From the press release:
The Cars Unlocked comes packaged in a gorgeous, foil-embossed case and includes a 28-page, hardbound booklet, designed by Ocasek, with dozens of newly unearthed photos. "This is the most comprehensive look at The Cars ever released on any format," says Ocasek. "I've been sifting through our video and audio archives for a long time, and think I've put together a really personal, inside look at the group."
Sounds neat. And yet there's no mention of The New Cars years.
