Rich art buyers egg on British stunt artist
BBC News is reporting that a London auction house has sold a work by graffiti artist Banksy (best know for stunningly nifty works like this) for 62,400 UK pounds. That's about $118,000, and it's 10 times the work's estimated value. It's the Banksy work most familiar to record buyers: the cover of Blur's Think Tank album. But this isn't the only recent big sale for Banksy, and the stealthy Brit isn't going soft just yet, as the story makes clear:
Last month the artist placed a life-sized replica of a Guantanamo Bay detainee inside the Disneyland theme park in California.
Hollywood actress Angelina Jolie reportedly spent more than £200,000 on work by Banksy at a recent Los Angeles sale.
