Richard Jenkins to antagonize Woody Harrelson in Rob Reiner’s LBJ
Richard Jenkins has joined the cast of Rob Reiner’s LBJ, a film chronicling Lyndon B. Johnson’s transition to becoming the 36th President of the United States after the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Jenkins will play southern senator Richard Russell, a former ally of Johnson (played by Woody Harrelson) who becomes an enemy when LBJ attempts to pass Kennedy’s civil rights bill. Jenkins just received an Emmy nomination for his work in HBO’s Olive Kitteridge, and last year Harrelson received widespread acclaim for his performance in the first season of True Detective. Even the script by Joey Hartstone was a 2014 Black List winner. So basically, it’s Reiner’s Oscar to lose.
