Rick Rubin, Flying Lotus featured on Star Wars EDM album
Dance music has always been important to the Star Wars series, from the song Figrin D’an And The Modal Nodes play in Mos Eisley to this horrible/funky disco remix of the original theme that came out in ‘77, but if Star Wars is going to stay relevant with today’s audiences, it has to embrace modern musical trends. Thankfully, Rick Rubin is curating and producing a compilation of electronic dance music tracks that all sample music and sounds from the Star Wars movies. This comes from Pitchfork, which reports that the album—Star Wars Headspace—features tracks from Rubin himself, as well as Flying Lotus, Rustie, A-Trak, Baauer, Röyksopp, Kaskade, Shlohmo, and GTA, all of which are probably real musical acts.
