Earlier this week, Ricky Gervais announced that Netflix had snapped up his Office spin-off movie, David Brent: Life On The Road, in which his boorish buffoon of a character finds new life as a failing singer. The first trailer for Life On The Road has arrived, and Gervais is as self-referential and self-congratulatory as ever. The mockumentary follows Brent’s musical act, Foregone Conclusion, in their life on the road. Of course, Brent’s no better performer than he was a manager—he writes terrible lyrics, offends his audience even when he’s trying to demonstrate how considerate he is, and caps things off by hitting a woman in the face with his T-shirt cannon.
David Brent: Life On The Road premieres in the U.K. and Ireland on August 19; its Netflix date is still pending.
