Ricky Martin to live la vida loca on American Crime Story: Versace

Indulging in his penchant for transforming pop icons into members of his ever-growing menagerie of stars, American Crime Story mastermind Ryan Murphy has announced that he’s casting Ricky Martin in one of the anthology series’ upcoming seasons. Martin—who recently served as a coach on Mexico’s version of The Voice, and who kicked off a new Las Vegas residency Wednesday night—will be living the crazy life of Antonio D’Amico, the long-time partner of fashion designer Gianni Versace.

Versace is the subject of the show’s planned third season (after Hurricane Katrina, but before Monica Lewinsky). Édgar Ramírez is set to play the famed designer himself, whose 15-year relationship with D’Amico ended in 1997, when he was murdered by serial killer Andrew Cunanan. Penelope Cruz has been cast as Versace’s sister, Donatella Versace, and while we don’t know much about how Cruz will approach the part, we can only assume she bangs, she bangs, oh baby, when she moves.
