Ride Along to be partnered with multiculturalism for sequel

As first heralded last spring—when news of its development was first announced, and Kevin Hart’s high-pitched shrieks first began their journey around the sun—Ride Along 2 is now officially in the works. Hart and his partner in height-differential-based crime comedy Ice Cube are closing deals to reteam with director Tim Story and screenwriters Phil Hay and Matt Manfredi on a follow-up to their film that’s grossed $120 million worldwide so far, five weeks into its run. As Deadline notes, most of that box-office haul comes from U.S. theaters, so the next Ride Along is expected to attempt to broaden its appeal to foreign markets, both by having more action and being more “multicultural.” So next year, thrill once more to the comically mismatched duo of Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, as they’re forced to share a zeppelin in a race around the world.
