Ridiculous battle between Mark Kozelek and The War On Drugs still isn’t over
The battle between The War On Drugs and Sun Kil Moon’s Mark Kozelek rages on. Just yesterday, music blogs reported on War On Drugs frontman Adam Granduciel’s interview with Swedish site Songs For Whoever, where he called Kozelek an “idiot,” a “douche,” a “prick, an “asshole,” a “fucking child,” and a “fucking prick” for their long-simmering, mostly one-sided feud— and for, among other things, writing a song called “War On Drugs: Suck My Cock.” Granduciel declared he doesn’t “have time for idiots,” saying that Kozelek’s recent invitation to duet with War On Drugs only came after he’d already made the offer in private then quickly backed out of it, leaving the band no chance to say yes.
And now, inevitably, Kozelek has responded—in musical form, of course. In the spoken-word song “Adam Granofsky Blues” posted to his site, Kozelek reads Granduciel’s relevant portions of the interview over some blues guitar licks, then laughs maniacally. It’s pretty ridiculous. But then, what about this whole thing isn’t?
