Ridley Scott’s already written another Alien movie, could keep this up for years

In the 15 years between Alien movies, the world kept turning, but with decidedly less xenomorph blood. Director Ridley Scott took his time bringing us Prometheus, and then let another five years go by before bringing forth Alien: Covenant. But he’s never going to make fans wait for another Alien movie again. As Scott tells the Sydney Morning Herald, he’s poised to capitalize the success of Covenant, not if but when the movie wins audiences over: “You’ve got to assume to a certain extent success and from that you’d better be ready. You don’t want a two-year gap. So I’ll be ready to go again next year.

Ready to go with what next year? Well, the script he’s already written for the next part in his prequel saga, which will reportedly span four films total. Scott acknowledges that his interest may appear to have waned, but he’s actually quite keen on moving forward with the series—and if moviegoers “really want a franchise, I can keep cranking it for another six. I’m not going to close it down again. No way.” Cool, but before we get there, what’s Alien: Covenant like? Scott says it’s a return to the sci-fi horror of the Alien movies of yesteryear, which also happen to be the Alien movies he’s promising for the future.
