RIP Alex Toth
I don't have much to say about the death of one of comicdom's greatest and most distinctive illustrators, but I do want to point everyone to The Comics Reporter, where Tom Spurgeon has done a typically superb job of rounding up relevant links, pictures, and commentary on Toth. I wish there was more of Toth's work readily in print to lead people to. Maybe his death will prompt some of the companies who own the rights to his work-for-hire to collect it all in one place. In the meantime, I'll pull out my copy of Batman In The Seventies and re-read Toth's "Death Flies The Haunted Sky," which was one of my first introductions to his thick-lined, stylized approach to adventure cartooning (outside of Space Ghost and The Herculoids, of course).
