Iconic pin-up model Bettie Page has died at the age of 85. Page had been in ill-health for years but her longevity was itself remarkable given her tumultuous life, which included an abusive father, several failed marriages, success she never really got to enjoy, a religious conversion, and institutionalization following an attack on her landlord. Still, it's her iconic image that will be her legacy. Page projected a sensuality that was at once unabashed and innocent, a look much-imitated but never quite matched.
