RIP Boots Randolph

Boots Randolph, famed saxophone player known for the 1963 hit "Yakety Sax," has died at the age of 80. In an extensive career that included playing sax on classics like Elvis Presley's "Return To Sender," Roy Orbison's "Oh, Pretty Woman," and Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Round the Christmas Tree" in addition to session work with the likes of Johnny Cash and Buddy Holly, Randolph recorded more than 40 albums and played regularly in Nashville for more than 30 years. Still, Randolph will forever be known for "Yakety Sax," a manic number that was immortalized on The Benny Hill Show—something which Randolph accepted, saying, "'Yakety Sax' will be my trademark. I'll hang my hat on it. It's kept me alive."

It also has the power to make almost anything funny, to which numerous YouTube tributes attest. Here's one of our favorites:
