Sad news: Texas songwriter Chris Whitley died of lung cancer this week at age

45, which is a damn shame. His newest record, Soft Dangerous Shores, is still unheard by

me, but I was a big fan of his two discs from last year, Weed and War Crimes Blues. Here are the The A.V.
