RIP Dan Fogelberg

Sad news for soft rock fans: Singer Dan Fogelberg has passed away at the age of 56 after a battle with prostate cancer. Fogelberg's string of gold and platinum albums in the late '70s and early '80s helped to define the soft-rock era, built around simple, poignant stories delivered in Fogelberg's tender voice, chief among them the holiday-themed hit "Same Old Lang Syne" and "Leader Of The Band," a tribute to his high school band director father. Fogelberg was also a passionate "No Nukes" advocate and was committed to both saving the environment and standing up for Native Americans. His last album was 2003's Full Circle. (And if you'll forgive the frivolity, this news must be especially hard on Lola Granola.)
