Jeffery Owen Jones, a Time magazine intern who interviewed Bob Dylan at the infamous 1965 Newport Folk Festival and supposedly is the Mr. Jones from "Ballad Of A Thin Man," died earlier this month of lung cancer, according to The NME. Although it is widely thought that Jones inspired the song, there have been other candidates for the protagonist, including a British journalist named Max Jones, who Dylan has mentioned himself.
