RIP Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the man who introduced transcendental meditation to the west and famously acted as a guru to The Beatles in the '60s, has died. He was thought to be 91. (His age apparently isn't known for sure.) While everyone from The Rolling Stones to David Lynch to Clint Eastwood were associated with the Maharishi, The Beatles were his most famous patrons, though it's still not quite clear what caused their infamous falling out with each other. The USA Today story says it was due to the Maharishi discovering them doing drugs at his Himalayan retreat, but obviously USA Today never heard the Beatles' song "Sexy Sadie," written by John Lennon after he discovered some shenanigans going on between the guru and Mia Farrow. (A charge denied by George Harrison and Paul McCartney.) At any rate, Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's legacy lives on in the TM movement, which continues to grow to this day.
