RIP Peter Zinner, Dick Wilson
Oscar-winning editor Peter Zinner, whose credits include the first two Godfather films and The Deer Hunter, died Friday at the age of 88. According to Francis Ford Coppola, as co-editor on the The Godfather, Zinner "had the inspiration to add the organ music that pulled the sequence together." Zinner appeared only once as an actor in The Hunt For Red October, and his single directing credit was 1981's The Salamander. Last year he collaborated on the documentary Running With Arnold with his daughter, also a film editor.
Character actor Dick Wilson has died at 91. He had many bit roles in TV shows such as Bewitched and Hogan's Heroes, but he was unequivocally best known for playing the uptight grocer "Mr. Whipple" in a series of ads for Charmin that ran for over 21 years, where—as the AP describes—he was "consumed with keeping bubbly housewives from fondling toilet paper." (Yes, yes…We are now free to squeeze the Charmin. Hilarious.)
