RIP Veronica Mars
After weeks of painfully dragging out hopes that it would be revived, fledgling network The CW announced today that Veronica Mars has not been renewed for a fourth season. The cult favorite—which starred Kristen Bell as a teenage PI—was beloved by critics (including a few rabid A.V. Clubbers) but never found enough viewers for its unusually smart blend of teen drama, sarcastic wit, and neo-noir suspense. To its dedicated fans, of course, this is hardly a surprise: The writing had been on the proverbial wall since a mid-season replacement by Pussycat Dolls: Search For The Next Doll nearly doubled Mars' anemic ratings (proving once again that America likes its hot girls served up nice and stupid).
