We don’t know what went on between reality-show barnacle Rob Kardashian and his ex-fiancee Blac Chyna to make them break off their engagement, and that’s kind of the point. It’s none of our business. Their sex lives are especially none of our business, although Kardashian made it everyone’s business today by posting explicit pictures of Chyna on social media. In a snit over Chyna seeing other people even though he’s spent lots of money on her and their daughter, the man E! News refers to as a “30-year-old sock designer” posted screenshots of text conversations containing nude photos of Chyna on Instagram, then on Twitter and Facebook after Instagram deactivated his account.
Those are now gone too, but the repercussions of Kardashian’s gross tantrum may just be beginning. As cybercrime specialist Priya Sopori tells BuzzFeed News, posting private, explicit pictures on a public forum could violate California’s anti-revenge porn law—a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in jail—particularly if Chyna claims that Kardashian’s actions caused her emotional distress. Previously, the law didn’t cover nude selfies like the ones Kardashian put online today, but that law was amended in August 2014. Chyna also accused him of physical abuse earlier today in a Snapchat post that‘s since been deleted. (“Rob u did all this but u beat me up and try act it never happen!!!!!” she wrote. “U put hand on me I swear on god!!!! On my kids but I’m supposed to be quiet because you’re a Kardashian.”)
The only potential problem, Sopori says, is that Chyna “liked” the pictures on Instagram, which would make it difficult to prove in court that she was emotionally distressed at that time. Strange days, indeed.
