Rob Lowe is making a sitcom about trying to be a good dad

Rob Lowe is working on a new show for NBC, about a man attempting to reconnect with his estranged family after a lifetime of doing the sorts of things Rob Lowe used to be famous for doing. The show, developed by Lowe and veteran Late Show With David Letterman writers Alex Gregory and Peter Huyck, will see the actor playing “a worldly, adventurous, and newly sober narcissist” attempting to reconnect with his ex-wife and teenage children. Given that Lowe has already proven, more than once, that all it takes for America (and its estranged wives and children) to forgive him is one of his signature, smile-heavy bursts of relentless positivity, we don’t see it being that big of a problem.

This will be Lowe, Gregory, and Huyck’s second series for NBC in as many years, after their previous comedy pilot The Pro failed to get picked up last fall. The new series doesn’t have a title yet, but Rob Lowe, Dad Show rhymes, so let’s assume they’ll go with that.
