Robert De Niro is starring in a movie called Dirty Grandpa
After starring in a movie about That Awkward Moment when you’re just trying to figure out relationship stuff, but your bros and boner pills keep getting in the way, Zac Efron will now be starring in a movie about that awkward moment when you’re just trying to figure out relationship stuff, but your grandpa and his boner pills keep getting in the way. Efron is in talks to star opposite Robert De Niro in Dirty Grandpa, a film that—like the recent Grudge Match and Last Vegas, as well as the upcoming The Intern—derives its comedy from the fact that Robert De Niro is in his 70s but doing nominally young things. This while simultaneously making his fans feel very old, and therefore very funny.
Directed by Sacha Baron Cohen collaborator Dan Mazer, Dirty Grandpa finds De Niro playing a “perverted former Army general” who thinks his grandson is about to marry the wrong woman. Naturally, he tricks him into driving him to Florida for spring break, because that’s where the age-inappropriate boobs are. Efron will play that embarrassed grandson—presumably with the aid of a trombone he pulls out whenever De Niro does something pervy. “Dirty Grandpa!” Efron will say. Wamp-wamp-waaaaaaamp. And then everyone learns some stuff about thinking twice before making regrettable decisions.
