Robert De Niro/Robert Pattinson movie shut down on the eve of production
Either somebody screwed up pretty hard or the collective star power of Robert De Niro and Robert Pattinson was poised to cause an explosion of talent big enough to level Pittsburgh, because the duo’s new film has suddenly been called off weeks before it was to go into production.
The film, the Olivier Assayas-directed thriller Idol’s Eye, was supposed to film in Toronto and Chicago in December, but earlier today production company Benaroya Pictures announced that they would be shutting down the film indefinitely.
“Due to the criteria for financing not being met by producers, Benaroya Pictures has formally decided to discontinue financing the motion picture titled Idol’s Eye,” the company said in a statement quoted in Variety. “The company cannot continue to put its investment at risk and has been forced to stop cash flowing the production.”
Meanwhile, Jingle All The Way 2 got financed just fucking fine.
