Robert Pattinson and Juliette Binoche are space trash in the first trailer for Claire Denis' High Life
Audiences fled the theater in droves when Claire Denis’ High Life, the French filmmaker’s English-language debut, premiered at 2018's Toronto International Film Festival. Our own A.A. Dowd, however, found much to love about this blend of sci-fi and body horror, saying the film “gradually reveals itself to be her disquieting, transgressive spin on the Solaris school of heady space odysseys.”
Robert Pattinson stars as a single father raising a child on a spaceship filled with death-row inmates, with Juliette Binoche appearing as a predatory doctor obsessed with fertility. Its first trailer is gorgeous, awash in oranges and blues that dovetail with the film’s vast, lonely view of outer space. Mia Goth, Lars Eidinger, and Andre “3,000” Benjamin co-star.
Watch the trailer above, but know that your baby’s coo of “dada” might not sound the same afterwards.
