Robert Pollard celebrates 100 albums with a massive collection of cover art

This year, Robert Pollard, captain of the good ship Guided By Voices, reached a milestone that few other musicians have: The release of his 100th album, August By Cake. (As a press release points out, Bob Dylan has only released 39, “and that includes The Traveling Wilburys.”) And to celebrate, he’s compiled 30 years’ worth of records into a massive hardcover coffee-table book collecting the artwork—both front and back covers—from all 100 of those albums. “The book is more about the art than the achievement itself. It’s an art book,” Pollard says.

Appropriately called 100, the book, which measures a hefty 12” by 12”, is being released by Rockathon Records and is limited to 1000 copies worldwide. The news comes as the latest incarnation of GBV prepares to hit the road for a new round of touring; this particular jaunt will take them across familiar Midwestern stomping grounds, from Chicago to Cincinnati and back up again, closing out in Milwaukee.

100 is now available for purchase at the Rockathon Records website.
