Robert Redford says he’s retiring from acting

Robert Redford will be retiring from acting soon. That’s the takeaway from an interview the Sundance Film Festival founder gave to his grandson, Dylan Redford, this week, citing his own impatience with the process as his primary reason for stepping away. “I’m an impatient person, so it’s hard for me to sit around and do take after take after take,” Redford said, while also noting that he’s now 80 years old.

Redford will continue to direct and produce—he won his only Academy Award for directing, for 1980’s Ordinary People—and work on his art, a long-time passion. Redford currently has two acting projects still waiting to come out; Our Souls At Night, with Jane Fonda, and The Old Man And The Gun with Casey Affleck.
