Robert Rodriguez making live-action Jetsons movie?
Dark Horizons (via Latino Report) says that Grindhouse director Robert Rodriguez has been tapped to helm the Warner Bros.-produced live-action remake of the Hanna-Barbera cartoon The Jetsons. Some may remember that the futuristic family has appeared on the screen before in 1990's disappointing Jetsons: The Movie, which attempted to update the story of George, Jane, Elroy, Judy, and Astro with a clumsy mix of traditional and computer animation. But obviously, a live-action update is bound to be a success—you know, just like 1994's The Flintstones. We tried reaching Robert Rodriguez for comment, but unfortunately perpetual hanger-on Quentin Tarantino grabbed the phone and went off on a 40-minute rant about how Jet Screamer's "Eep Oop Ork Ah Ah" is this "amazing primal statement that totally predates punk, man!"
