Robert Rodriguez to reboot Predator franchise, expand Grindhouse trailer into feature

Robert Rodriguez, the director voted most likely to be mentioned in the same sentence as Quentin Tarantino, has a bunch of projects in the works—most notably a just-confirmed reboot of the Predator series. It's been rumored for a while, but various sources (including Variety and Ain't It Cool) are reporting confirmation that Rodriguez (El Mariachi, From Dusk Til Dawn, Spy Kids, Sin City, Planet Terror) will helm Predators, which he also wrote (or is writing, who the hell knows). If he can reassemble the dream team of Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jesse Ventura, and Carl Weathers, I'll be happy.

Rodriguez is also working on making a full movie out of Machete, which was originally one of the wacky trailers attached to his double-feature (with Quentin Tarantino), Grindhouse. The movie ("This time they fucked with the wrong Mexican") will star the always awesome Danny Trejo, who got his head lopped off in last week's Breaking Bad.

Here's a beautiful scene from the original Predator.
