Rockstar delays Red Dead Redemption 2, hopes these new screenshots will tide you over

Red Dead Redemption 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the revered Wild West game from the makers of Grand Theft Auto, has been delayed to spring 2018, Rockstar Games announced today. The characteristically tight-lipped company had gone dark since revealing the game’s existence last October and targeting fall 2017 as the initial release date for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. “We are very sorry for any disappointment this delay causes, but we are firm believers in delivering a game only when it is ready,” the developer wrote on its website. “We are really excited to bring you more details about the game this summer.”

In making up for the bad news, Rockstar has deigned to provide the rabid masses with a few hilariously nondescript screenshots that it says are “from the world of Red Dead Redemption 2.” There’s the one up above, of a menacing cowpoke shrouded in the dust and steam pouring off a locomotive. Below, we see a seemingly different Western man whose out for a night on the town and is also playfully hiding his face from the camera.

This one appears to be him again, riding his steed among some really big trees.

Continuing the theme of obscured faces, here’s a band of cowboys heading out by the light of the moon. Our man from the last two screenshots looks to be the second rider in the line-up.

Here we have more cowpeople, perhaps escorting a prisoner, Hateful Eight-style, in a wagon?

Hoo-boy, look at the etchings on these guns! Those are some high-quality pixels.

And this one’s a train.
