Roger Ebert putting At The Movies on indefinite hiatus

Roger Ebert’s recent petitioning of the angels and/or earthbound benefactors to help save At The Movies has yielded a lot of viewer suggestions and expressions of interest from various financiers, but unfortunately the venerable film criticism show is still going on indefinite hiatus at the end of December. Ebert wrote in his blog that, while they are currently considering several potential sponsors and crowd-funding sources—including a possible Kickstarter campaign—“the time crunch has intervened,” and so he’s forced to take the show off the air while public television stations plan their 2012 programming, and the At The Movies team figures out what avenue to take so they can be a part of it again. In the meantime, fans are asked to have faith in its eventual return, and also maybe consider becoming billionaires and backing the show.
