Roger Ebert taking a break from Twitter Showdowns and AVQ&As to once again present At The Movies

It must be Roger Ebert day here at The A.V. Club. Back in March, Disney announced the cancellation of At The Movies after 24 seasons of national syndication, and the final episode ran on August 14. Immediately following Disney’s cancellation announcement, Ebert revealed the development of a self-produced incarnation of At the Movies. Today, the Chicago Sun-Times announced Roger Ebert Presents At The Movies, a thumbs-up style movie-review program that will be presented nationally by WTTW Chicago, returning the program to the PBS station Siskel and Ebert launched on in 1975. The main co-hosts will be Associated Press film critic Christy Lemire and NPR’s Elvis Mitchell. Aside from co-producing, Ebert and his badass computer voice will appear on every episode with a segment titled “Roger’s Office.” Set to air in January 2011, the program will do more than just review movies: It’s expanding into “coverage of New Media, special segments on classics, on-demand viewing and genres, and an extended website.” Ebert is calling it “The rebirth of a dream,” but we’re just happy to have him back.
