Beloved masters of quirk like Noah Baumbach, writer-director of The Squid And The Whale and co-writer of The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou, always deserve a boost. It's certainly surprising, though, that this one comes from one of mainstream's cinemas great straddlers of magic and schlock, Ron Howard, who will direct Baumbach's script for The Emperor's Children. As Cinematical points out, this could still be a year or so away from actually getting started, but it should be interesting to see how Howard's and Baumbach's fingerprints mix.
