Reports of Michelle Obama’s appearance on Netflix’s Gilmore Girls revival might have been exaggerated, or otherwise confused with some of the First Lady’s charitable endeavors, which count Rory Gilmore among their volunteers. The photos of Rory (Alexis Bledel) hanging out with the First Lady turned out to be snapshots for a teaser that nods to the White House’s Let Girls Learn program, as well as Rory’s voracious reading habits.
In this promo for Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, Rory drops off some recommended “light reading,” including the complete works of Shakespeare, some of Zadie Smith and Jane Austen’s works, and a little Proust. She’s also the envoy for Lorelai’s gift of Pop-Tarts, which have always served as a sweet reminder of her freedom.
Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life is slated for a November release, if this tweet is anything to go by.
