Rosie O’Donnell will lead protest during Trump’s first Congressional address

Donald Trump keeps racking up the milestones—after finding a way to make the Oscars gaffe all about him, the president is preparing to address Congress for the first time later tonight. We don’t know what’s on the agenda for the speech, but we assume Trump will enumerate the ways in which Democrats and, really, democracy have let him down by insisting that human rights apply to everyone, and not just his family members and donors, Frank Costanza-style. Chewing gum enthusiast Sean Spicer has indicated the theme of the event is “renewal of the American spirit,” which could also refer to all the protests that have followed almost all of his executive orders.

To that end, The Hill reports O’Donnell will lead a rally called the “Resistance Address” right outside of the White House during his speech. The enmity between the two remains very much a thing, and it’s probably not lost on O’Donnell that his grandstanding has preempted the LGBT history miniseries, When We Rise, in which she costars. But rather than trade shots on Twitter, O’Donnell’s organized a protest with thousands of people from marginalized groups, including immigrants, people of color, the LGBT community, and of course, women. They hope to send “a clear message outside of Trump’s front door that his agenda does not represent the values of the American people.”
