Ruby Rose has gone from Orange Is The New Black breakout star to action-flick sidekick—or nemesis—so quickly that she hasn’t even had time for slumming in sitcom guest spots as a sexy new neighbor or sexy new co-worker. (Basically, any role where she’d set hearts aflutter.) But Rose’s career trajectory will soon take a deep dive. No, not with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter—Rose is currently in talks to join Jason Statham on the hunt for a prehistoric shark in Meg.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the adaptation’s snared Rose with the role of the “edgy engineering genius” who, while slumming it with an underwater observation program in the Mariana Trench, meets a sexy new co-worker. That would be Statham, who’s playing a former naval captain who’s heading up the team in search of the prehistoric shark. Rose’s character will help him on his Moby Dick-like quest, and we hope her academic won’t be of the Christmas Jones variety.
