Run-DMC will not reunite this summer after all (but Ghostface, Method Man, and Raekwon will)
That planned Run-DMC reunion sans the late Jam-Master Jay planned for this summer’s Roots Picnic is a no go, according to drummer Questlove, who offered as consolation the news that The Roots would serve as the backing band for Ghostface Killah, Method Man, and Raekwon as the trio get together behind the recent Wu-Massacre. The third-annual Roots-curated mini-festival in the band’s hometown in Philadelphia will instead be headlined by the tougher-than-madras Vampire Weekend—who at least knows how to rock a rhyme for “horchata,” which is sort-of gangsta, we guess. Other confirmed acts for the June 5 concert include Clipse, Mayer Hawthorne, Das Racist, and a duet featuring Questlove and DJ Jazzy Jeff; tickets are on sale now.
